Star magazine’s recently released cover story has the Kardashian fam under fire.Star is claiming that the lines K-Dash by Kardashian, the Kris Jenner Collection, and ShoeDazzle are all manufactured in sweatshops in China, where workers, some of them children, are exposed to inhumane working conditions.
The main source of these allegations comes from Charles Kernaghan, the executive director of the Institute for Global Labour and Human Rights. Since the Star article was released, TMZ reported that Kernaghan went back on his allegations (“Wait on the article,” he told the Star, because he had no proof) closely followed by a statement on RadarOnline claiming that he stands by what he said in the article (“We don’t know what [TMZ is] talking about. I don’t disagree with a single thing [Star] said so I don’t know what they are saying”). Confused yet?
Today TMZ is reporting that the Kardashians are suing the Star for libel, and want financial compensation for the inevitable damage the rumours will do. Seeing as this isn’t the first time a Kardashian-branded product has been pretty dubbius we wouldn’t be at all surprised if the allegations were true.
Celebitchy: “I think that this is a widespread problem among goods manufactured overseas, and that it’s not fair to just point a finger at the stupid Kardashians and whatever krap they’re slapping their name on this month.”
Jill Fritzo, a Kardashian rep: “This is the first we are hearing about it and take it very seriously as we would never condone this. We are presently investigating the situation.”
Charles Kernaghan: “Kim, for example, could say, ‘It ain’t going to be all about me, me and me,’” he said. “She could do something and not leave behind a broken mess of women and children. If she took a stand and said, ‘I want to manufacture my products in Chicago or Los Angeles, where I can ensure people humane conditions,’ she would be taking the right stand.”
Lesa Hannah, beauty editor: “I’m confused myself as to who to believe, however, you can’t help but think the Kardashians are doing something yet again to contribute to the world’s crappiness.”
JAKARTA – Bila Anda ingin sedikit berhemat, silakan lirik peranti pemanja telinga dan mata yang berstatus bekas. Namun, jangan sampai Anda terjebak rayuan pedagang audio seken.
